payment:calling_cards
|
|
Payment is possible with calling cards. The usage of calling cards has been established on public phones in some countries. In contrast to telephone cards, on a calling card the credit is not stored on the card, but centrally with the telecommunications service provider. Calling cards often work with a dial-in number rather than a chip.
|
|
payment:reverse_charge_calls
|
|
This key is for public telephones (amenity=telephone) to show whether reverse charge calls are possible. These are calls for which the called party pays (with their prior consent by pressing one or more keys). This service can be used when people don't have coins or phone cards with them. On the one hand, it can be offered by the operator of the public telephone itself, but there are also external providers (the German Yoo R-Call for example). So if 0800 numbers can be dialed from the public telephone generally, the tag should be added, even if service is often limited to reaching landline connections only.

Per lane
In cases where a road toll has a special lane which segregates drivers by a certain payment method, it's possible to use the lanes scheme.
For example: a toll booth area with several normal lanes (where a driver must pay with cash or a card) and a special lane, usually on the far right or far left, where it's not needed to stop nor pay on the spot. One of such cases happens in Portugal, with Via Verde. In such cases, the following tag can be used: payment:via_verde:lanes=no|no|only. (this means the highway has three lanes and the far right lane only allows drivers that are going to pay with Via Verde.

Digital wallets
The following lists mentions support for digital wallets, which are electronic wallets in the form of mobile apps and services. Electronic wallets that come in the form of physical cards should be considered as fuel cards, road toll cards, or electronic purses in a case-by-case basis.
National electronic payment systems
The following sections list electronic payment systems that have been officially sanctioned for nationwide usage, such as DuitNow QR (Malaysia), QRIS (Indonesia), SGQR (Singapore), and UPI (Unified Payments India). Many of them are based on the EMVCo's payment QR code standards and do allow cross-border payments, so an Indonesian/QRIS user can perform cashless transactions in Singapore by scanning SGQR barcodes using a QRIS supported digital wallet application.

When tagging objects with one of the above tags, it is recommended to state the partnering payment service provider/acquirer for compatibility reasons, i.e. payment:<payment_provider>=yes and payment:<payment_provider>:<payment_system>=yes. For example, if a shop accepts SGQR through a QR code was issued by DBS (NETS QR), tag the object with payment:sgqr=yes and payment:nets_qr=yes and payment:nets_qr:sgqr=yes. Hence, some OpenStreetMap-compatible apps, which only recognizes payment:nets_qr=yes but not the other two, will be still able to indicate that the shop accepts cashless payments, at least through NETS digital wallet.
Note that some merchants may allow payments using digital wallets using other ways than the above standards. For example, users may be able to use LinkAja (payment:linkaja) for public transport in some Indonesian cities, but using LinkAja-issued payment tokens instead of merchant-presented or consumer-presented QRIS codes. In this case, **do not** tag the merchant as payment:linkaja:gpn_qris=yes. Use payment:linkaja:gpn_qris=no to indicate incompatibility with the QRIS standard.
Here is a non-exhaustive list of digital wallets that is known to support at least one of the above national payment systems.

payment:others=no

You may add this tag to the feature if you have already indicated all methods of payment which are accepted, to confirm that other payment methods that have not been explicitly tagged are not accepted. If you really checked all accepted payment methods completely, you should not add simultaneously payment:*=no, which would be an unnecessary duplicate.

payment:others=yes
|
It indicates that only some methods of payment have been tagged (either as yes or no), but that the current list of payment methods is not conclusive (i.e. there are some other payment:*=yes tags which are not yet tagged and should be added to make the list exhaustive and thus OK to tag the object with payment:others=no)

Denominations
In some cases, it can be helpful to add information about the accepted denominations of features that are tagged with payment:cash=*, payment:coins=* or payment:notes=*, This is mainly the case for vending machines that have this information printed on them. But there are also some shops that, for example, don't accept notes in the highest denominations. As for most information in OSM, only information should be added that doesn't change too often and is easy to verify on the ground (e.g. signed). The approved tags are
Change
Many vending machines (e.g. parking meters, ticket machines, fuel dispensers with integrated payment functions at unattended gas stations) accept coins or notes but do not give change. This information is important for users to know in advance how much money they need to have ready.
Currencies
It is assumed that the official currency of the country, where the tagged element is located, is accepted, so it doesn't explicitly need to be tagged. If different or additional currencies are accepted for different payment methods, consider appending the three letter code of the currency at the end of the key. For example:
payment:cash:USD
payment:mastercard:EUR
To give a hint which currencies are accepted in general for the tagged element (for all payment methods) you can use:
Minimum Payment
In some places some payment method is only accepted above a certain minimum amount. While there is no documented tagging scheme, according to TagInfo 'min_payment' is in use for this, e.g. payment:credit_cards:min_payment=10 EUR.
Description
For more complex payment situations, please add additional information using the description:payment=* tag. If possible, provide an English translation using description:payment:en=*.
See also
fee=yes/no/interval – A more basic tag to specify whether a fee is usually charged for a service, or for access
toll=* – To indicate that a road, bridge, ferry, or other way is tolled, i.e., that you must pay to use it.
charge=* – How much is charged for use of or access to a facility.
self_checkout=* – To indicate whether there is a customer-operated checkout without a cashier.
